Credit Union Mix-up

Sydney Morning Herald

MALCOLM BROWN

About 60 members of the NSW Police Credit Union have been shocked by unexpected credit card bills - some more than $3,000.

The bills came as a result of a computer error last year during processing of Visa card transactions by the ANZ Bank.

Mr Max Dunstan, general manager of the credit union, said that members were able to use the bank's Visa card for cash transactions.

It normally took only a few days for the transactions to be processed, but the error in the bank's processing took some time to be picked up and some members were caught unawares.

"We have explained to members what has happened and said we would not disadvantage them in any way by charging interest on that money," said Mr Dunstan.
